Have something to say? Why not share a Podcast?

As the curtains were brought down on our LIT 102 Course, we delved into a digital means of sharing writing, that of podcasts. While I have heard of podcasts in passing, I never paid them any mind, nor did I think that I would one day have the opportunity to create and share one.

At first, as we were being walked through the process by a fellow classmate, I wondered if I would be able to accomplish the task of creating one. However, I was determined to learn about it and through trial and error I am slowly getting the hang of it. Trying out the features of the Podcast creating App and thinking of the far reaching audience that would be able to listen to my Podcast filled me with excitement.

As teachers, we should be aware that many of our students are digital natives. Additionally, some struggle with writing while others dislike writing and may even describe it as boring. However, if we incorporate writing with the digital world we may be able to spark interest and creativity in our students. I am therefore excited to introduce my students to the world of podcasting upon my return to the classroom.

What about you? How do you think students may benefit from learning about podcasts?

If you are new to podcasting as I am, additional tips may be of benefit to you. I came across a blog which provides some valuable information as it relates to podcasts, it even highlights some of the legal implications regarding using the work of others in your podcast. See link below:
